Newborn Infant Exams and Care

After your baby is born, you will visit with the doctor approximately 3-5 days after bringing your baby home.   A second exam with the pediatrician will be conducted at two weeks, to insure the optimal growth and development of your baby.

During the newborn/infant visits, measurements will be taken of your baby’s height, weight and head size. These measurements will be entered into a chart and compared to determine proper growth. You will be asked questions regarding the baby, specifically regarding feeding, motor skills and social skills. During this time, the doctor will also be conducting a thorough physical evaluation of your baby.

Dr. Wiener will also provide guidance regarding what to expect during the first few months for those parents with their first child.  At each visit with your baby, thereafter, she will discuss with you normal development, social skills, immunization schedules and future visits for your baby.
