A parent with a child who has ADD or ADHD understands how these differences affect the daily life of their loved one. Dr. Wiener specializes in diagnosing, treating and caring for the well-being of children who have ADD or ADHD. All physicians have specialty areas that they focus on, and this is one of the doctor’s specialties. The doctor works closely with her patients and their families to keep an open dialogue to achieve the best results.
An important first step in treating a child with ADHD/ADD is to perform a full exam and diagnose whether the child has ADHD/ADD or if there is something else that is affecting your child and producing similar symptoms as ADHD/ADD.
Typical symptoms may include:
- Trouble at school.
- Issues with social relationships.
- Problems paying attention or focusing on specific tasks.
- Easily distracted, forgetful, and prone to losing things.
- Difficulty staying organized and completing tasks.
- Problems staying still—constantly moving, fidgeting, etc.
- Trouble remaining quiet and being disruptive to others.
- Difficulty waiting in line.
Although your child may experience some of these symptoms, Dr. Wiener’s experience and knowledge will allow her to diagnose your child with ADHD/ADD or let you know if there is another issue like dyslexia, depression, etc. that is affecting your child and their ability to perform in school. At anytime during the evaluation, Dr. Wiener welcomes any questions that you might have regarding your child’s academic growth. If there are further unanswered questions, Dr Wiener will refer your child to one of her many community resources.
